TREASURES IN HEAVEN
I hope that you will receive something beneficial in your visits to my blog - Living On Purpose. I named it that because I am a firm believer in living, not for oneself, but for the glory of God. In the end, all that will matter is what you did with what the Lord gave you. If one is only building for the here and now, the only thing that awaits is great disappointment and spiritual sorrow.
In contrast, the Lord Jesus taught us that if we die to self and live for Him, we can actually build "treasures" in heaven!
"Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal." (Matt. 6:20 NASB)
Living in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ has definite heavenly reward. It is a "true" treasure for retirement! I wonder how much treasure we have stored up in heaven?
I am taken by the words of Jesus to "store up" and "for yourselves". I point this out because we usually have the mistaken notion that we are to do nothing that will benefit us (because that would be 'selfish'). However, Jesus clearly tells us that we can "store up" and accumulate "for ..ourselves treasures in heaven...."
I'll try to share some more thoughts on that in my next blog session. Stay tuned!
So for now, thanks for coming by ... and may you be known by the Lord and blessed beyond all your expectations through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Gal. 4:9; 2 Cor. 8:9; Eph. 1:3)
Joy in the journey . . .
